Residency Training: More Than Clinical Skill Development

Frequently, the reason cited for students to complete a residency is to further their clinical learning but there just as many, if not more, benefits. There is a risk with decreasing pharmacy school enrollment, a drop in residency applicants, and more open jobs in healthcare that less students will feel the need to complete a residency. Pharmacy school focuses on academics and students have a primary focus on getting the best grades. They are not always thinking about the life and career skills they will need as they transition outside of the classroom. This session will help motivate students to follow a residency career path for the reasons we have outlined.
