Updates in Antifungal Pharmacotherapy: Resistance, Challenges, New Options

Diagnostic and resistance challenges in fungal pharmacotherapy are requiring creative solutions given the limited number of historically available antifungals. This session will provide an overview of the historical challenges of antifungal therapy and discuss pipeline and newly approved antifungal agents, available through expanded access programs, that offer exciting new treatment alternatives and opportunities for use in previously untreatable infections. Also included is the exploration of practical implementation through challenging clinical cases, small-group discussions, and audience sharing on how to approach these difficult scenarios, and whether the newly available and emerging agents may change their strategies.
