California Poison Control System, San Diego Division
Dr. Lee Cantrell is the Director of the San Diego Division of the California Poison Control System. He is a Doctor of Pharmacy, a board-certified clinical toxicologist and an elective fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology. Dr. Cantrell currently holds faculty appointments of full professor with the UCSF School of Pharmacy and the UCSD Skaggs School of Pharmacy. He has been involved in educating healthcare professionals and students for over 30 years. Dr. Cantrell has chaired or served on multiple committees within the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology, the American Board of Applied Toxicology and the American Association of Poison Control Centers over the last 2 decades. He has served as a reviewer/referee for 40 different medical journals and is frequently asked to speak regarding topics related to toxicology, pharmacology and poison control. Dr. Cantrell’s research focuses on toxicity thresholds for pediatric poison exposures, traditional and novel drugs of abuse, therapies and antidotes for potentially poisoned patients. He has presented 115 papers at national and international scientific meetings as well as authoring 129 peer reviewed journal articles and 42 book chapters.
