Ambulatory Clinical/Population Health Pharmacist

Dr. Samantha Shaffer is a Population Health and Ambulatory Care Pharmacist for Riverside Health System in Newport News, VA. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Nova Southeastern University and went on to complete her PGY1 pharmacy residency at Madigan Army Medical Center. She is Board Certified in Ambulatory Care Pharmacy. Prior to joining Riverside, Dr. Shaffer practice at Providence St. Peter’s Hospital in Olympia, WA.
At a national level, Dr. Shaffer is an active member of American Society of Health-system Pharmacist (ASHP), most recently serving on the Medication Management Services Section Advisory Group. At a state and local level, Dr. Shaffer is an active member of the Virginia Society of Health-system Pharmacist (VSHP), serving on the education and communications committee. She also currently services on Riverside’s diversity committee. Dr. Shaffer is one of the recipients of the 2023 Pharmacy Leadership Scholar from the ASHP Foundation for her grant project “Role of Implicit Bias on Prescription Duration of Chronic Medications.”
