Ambulatory Cardiology Pharmacist

Dr. Maggie Hitzeman, PharmD, BCPS is an ambulatory cardiology pharmacist at Nebraska Medicine in the Heart and Vascular Center. She is also a clinical assistant professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Pharmacy. Dr. Hitzeman received her Bachelor’s in Chemistry from Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas, and her PharmD from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Pharmacy in Omaha, Nebraska.
Dr. Hitzeman has served in clinical practice at Nebraska Medicine for more than 6 years. She is actively involved in many hospital-wide, multidisciplinary committees and serves as a primary preceptor for APPE pharmacy students and PGY2 ambulatory care pharmacy residents. Prior to her practice at Nebraska Medicine, she was a clinical pharmacist and preceptor for Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, Kansas.
Dr. Hitzeman is passionate about advancing pharmacy practice with innovative services involving pharmacists, student pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians. Her other interest areas include evaluating and highlighting pharmacists’ impact on patient care and integrating student pharmacists into practice models and interprofessional teams through work in experiential education and community volunteer opportunities. She is an active member of the Nebraska Pharmacists Association, American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and the American College of Clinical Pharmacy.
