Lead Pharmacist, Medication Management and Optimization

Erin Maxwell, PharmD, BCPS is the Lead Pharmacist with UNC Health System's Medication Management and Optimization team. In this role, Dr. Maxwell serves as co-chair for the System P&T Formulary Subcommittee, a multidisciplinary decision-making group responsible for the support and maintenance of pragmatic formulary management strategies for the multi-entity health system. Dr. Maxwell also supports the disemmination of drug information resources through the UNC Health Drug Information Center, an academic research services that supports clinical staff across UNC Health. As a preceptor for UNC Medical Center's residency programs, Erin is heavily involved in precepting both students and residents, imparting essential drug information and literature evaluation skiills to support future practice. A dedicated educator, Erin also serves as residency program coordinator for the combined 24-month Medication-Use Safety and Policy Residency Program through UNC Medical Center.
Erin received her PharmD training from the University of North Carolina's Eshelman School of Pharmacy. She went on to complete a general PGY1 residency at UF Health Jacksonville and a subsequent PGY2 specialty residency in Medication-Use Safety and Policy at UNC Medical Center. Her professional interests include biostatistics, drug information, teaching/precepting, and professional development.
