Dr. Geoffrey Cox, PharmD, is currently the Director of Pharmacy at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital. He received his B.S. and Doctor of Pharmacy from Howard University, Washington DC, and completed postgraduate training in pharmacy practice with a focus in critical care and infectious diseases at Barnes and Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Cox started a clinical rounding program in the ICUs at Georgetown University Hospital post-residency. From there joined Kaiser Permanente (HMO) with a team of hospitalists to help develop a program that focuses on disease management which helped increase efficiency and pharmaceutical care. He has worked in the community pharmacy practice setting, home infusion pharmacy practice setting, and also long-term pharmacy practice settings. Dr. Cox is interested in developing pharmacoeconomics models from a pharmacy health systems perspective with patient-centered care and incorporating advanced technologies.
