Craig D. Cox, Pharm.D., FCCP, BCPS
Dr. Craig Cox is an Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Vice Chair of Experiential Programs at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Jerry H Hodge School of Pharmacy (TTUHSC SOP) in Lubbock, Texas where he has been on faculty for 23 years. He received his Pharm.D. from Washington State University and then completed a Critical Care Residency at TTUHSC SOP in Amarillo. Dr. Cox provides clinical pharmacy services on the adult medicine ward at University Medical Center. He has served as the primary preceptor for more than 350 students and residents completing six-week rotations. He has received a number of teaching awards, including both the President’s and Chancellor’s Excellence in Teaching. Dr. Cox has provided numerous preceptor continuing education programs at the local, state, and national level. More recently, he has created an innovative video Preceptor Mini-Series training concept that is gaining national recognition. To date he has utilized this concept to develop (6) unique video series aimed to train teachers and students of all health professions in the clinical setting. Through leadership within the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) he has led important initiatives in experiential education across the country. Dr. Cox is serving as President of AACP. His current research initiatives are focused on preceptor training/development and quality assurance as it relates to experiential education.
