Dr. Bethany DiPaula is a residency trained, board certified psychiatric pharmacist with a passion for managing patients with substance use disorders (SUD). She is a professor at the University of Maryland, School of Pharmacy and residency program director for the University of Maryland PGY2 Psychiatric Pharmacy Residency Program. She currently practices collaboratively with a Baltimore City medical group providing medication management services for patients diagnosed with SUD and other psychiatric disorders. She is a consultant with the University of Maryland, School of Medicine Maryland Addiction Consultation Service (MACS). Dr. DiPaula is actively involved with the pharmacy profession. She has served on the ASHP Opioid Taskforce. She is the Chairperson for the American Association of Psychiatric Pharmacists (AAPP) Substance Use Disorders Committee and is currently serving on NIDA’s CTN project, Defining the Research Roadmap: The Role of Community Pharmacies in Treating Opioid Use Disorder. Dr. DiPaula served for 6 years on the BPS Psychiatric Pharmacy Speciality Council. She has received a MPhA Advocate of he Year Award, CPNP innovative practice award, MPhA Cardinal Health Generation Rx Award, and the University of Maryland Evander Frank Kelly Honored Alumnus Award,. She is an ASHP Fellow. Dr. DiPaula's research interests include the pharmacist optimization of care for patients with substance use disorders.
