Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner – Mental Health

Dr. Amber R. Douglass, PharmD, BCPS, BCPP is a clinical pharmacist practitioner in mental health with the VA. Her current position is with the Clinical Resource Hub based out of West Haven, Connecticut/VISN 1 and she sees patients virtually through telehealth. Dr. Douglass graduated from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy and completed a PGY1 Residency at Sullivan University/Central State Hospital in Louisville, KY. Her practice interests include general mental health, substance use disorders, teaching/precepting and advancing psychiatric pharmacy. In 2022, she served as the course coordinator and taught in the Advanced Psychiatry elective for Belmont College of Pharmacy and she also guest lectures in the psychopharmacology series at the Meharry Medical College for psychiatry residents. Dr. Douglass is actively involved in the American Association of Psychiatric Pharmacists as a current member of their Substance Use Disorder Committee and a Past Chair of their Resident and New Practitioner Committee. She is a current member of the Psychiatric Pharmacy Specialty Council with the Board of Pharmacy Specialties and a member of the Mental Health Subject Matter Expert Workgroup for the VA Clinical Pharmacy Program Office. Dr. Douglass is also actively involved in ASHP; she serves on the Section of Pharmacy Educators Advisory Group on Post-Graduate Education and Learning Experiences and is honored to be here as a speaker for Midyear.
