Dr. Heather Ellis received her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from St. Louis College of Pharmacy in St. Louis, MO. Dr. Ellis worked as a clinical pharmacist at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, FL for five years before transitioning into the Medication Safety Pharmacist role at the facility. While serving as the Medication Safety Pharmacist, she led the facility's Medication Error, Drug Safety and Smart Infusion Pump committees. During that time, Dr. Ellis completed the ISMP Medication Safety Intensive program and the ASHP ISMP Medication Safety Certificate. Dr. Ellis joined AdventHealth Orlando in 2021 as the Medication Safety Coordinator. She leads the Orlando Continuous Quality Improvement committee, co-chairs the system level Medication Safety Committee, precepts residents and students, and is the residency program director for the PGY2 Medication Use Safety and Policy program. Dr. Ellis enjoys working as a collaborative team with hospital operations, clinical, and informatics to implement best practices.
