Dr. Smith completed his PharmD at Northeast Ohio Medical University, followed by his PGY-1 pharmacy residency at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center and PGY-2 in emergency medicine at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. In 2019, Dr. Smith completed his MBA with a focus on healthcare administration and continues to refine his leadership skills through the ACCP Leadership Academy. After working in NY through various roles ranging from Lead EM pharmacist at Cornell to establishing the PGY-2 EM pharmacy residency in the South Bronx in conjunction with Touro College of Pharmacy and SBH Health System, Dr. Smith joined Scripps Mercy San Diego as an Emergency Medicine Pharmacist Specialist and PGY2 Emergency Medicine RPD in 2020. He has been invited to speak both nationally and locally, and published multiple articles ranging from pain management and opioid sparing therapies in the emergency department to ASHP’s Guidelines on Emergency Medicine Pharmacist Services. Dr. Smith’s professional affiliations include the ACCP, CSHP, SDSHP, and ASHP, where he serves as president for the San Diego Society of Health System Pharmacists Chapter and as the Chair for the ACCP Emergency Medicine PRN. In his spare time he’s exploring San Diego’s microbreweries or catching a breeze while learning to sail.
