Dr. Marrs is a Full Professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Translational Sciences at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy. He earned his PharmD from Butler University and MPH from the University of Colorado. He completed a PGY1 residency at Mount Carmel Medical Center and a PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency at the University of Colorado. He currently practices as an ambulatory care clinical pharmacist specialist with the Ascension Medical Group-Tennessee at the St Thomas Lenox Village Clinic. He has 17 years of pharmacy faculty and clinical pharmacy practice experience in ambulatory care, with a focus on cardiology & cardiometabolic diseases. He has extensive experience serving as a preceptor for IPPE/APPE students and PGY1/PGY2 residents. He was recognized with the ASHP Foundation Pharmacy Residency Excellence Preceptor Award in 2019. Dr. Marrs is a Board Certified in Ambulatory Care, Cardiology, and Pharmacotherapy. He is a clinical lipid specialist designated by ABCL. He is a fellow of the AHA, ACCP, ASHP, and NLA. He is a past chair of the Section of Clinical Specialists and Scientists (SCCS), past member of ASHP’s Council on Therapeutics, past member of SCCS Educational Steering Committee, and SCCS Cardiology Roundtable Discussion leader. He has presented on several cardiovascular and educational topics at the ASHP Summer and Midyear Clinical Meetings.
