Dr. Aleta Smithbauer graduated from Northeast Ohio Medical University in 2015 earning a Doctor of Pharmacy degree with special awards in Commitment to Service and Pharmacy Diversity & Inclusion Excellence. She completed a Post Graduate Year-One Pharmacy Practice Residency at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in 2017, and then continued her career with the VA as a Clinical Staff Pharmacist. She has also worked at VA medical centers in Oregon and West Virginia as a Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner in several practice areas including Geriatrics, Palliative Care, Primary Care, and Academic Detailing. She is currently the Associate Chief of Clinical Pharmacy Services at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center. Dr. Smithbauer has earned additional professional accomplishments which include recognition as a Board Certified Geriatric Pharmacist, training as a VHA Mentor, and completion of the ASHP Long-Term Care Antimicrobial Stewardship Certification. Dr. Smithbauer's passion and purpose is to be a life-long learner and educator by constantly improving personally and professionally and to help others grow and achieve their goals.
