Maritza Lew, Pharm.D., CPHIMS, PMP is a Clinical Informatics Pharmacist with over three decades of experience in hospital pharmacy practice. She pursued her education at the University of Southern California, where she earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Maritza then completed a specialized residency in Geriatric Care at the VA Sepulveda, laying the foundation for her future endeavors.
Maritza's expertise lies in the area of clinical informatics, and she has built both interfaced and integrated pharmacy systems. Over the years, she has led numerous projects, including implementing bedside barcoding, IV workflow management systems, automated dispense machines, device integration, and various electronic health record systems. Her contributions have significantly improved patient safety and outcomes in hospitals across the country.
In addition to her vast experience in pharmacy practice, Maritza is also an accomplished IT Project Manager in Silicon Valley. Her unique skill set has enabled her to bridge the gap between clinical pharmacy and IT, ensuring that technology solutions align with patient care needs.
Maritza is an active professional and has served in appointed roles for the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Currently, she is a member of the ASHP Pharmacy Practice Accreditation Commission and continues to work with the Section of Pharmacy Informatics & Technology. Through her leadership and contributions to the field, Maritza has become a respected figure in clinical pharmacy and informatics.
