Brianne Bakken, PharmD, MHA is an Assistant Professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy and a Pharmacy Manager at Children's Wisconsin both located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dr. Bakken received her PharmD from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. She then completed a PGY1/PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration Residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics along with a Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree from the University of Iowa College of Public Health.
Dr. Bakken is a health-system pharmacy leader with involvement at the state and national level, including the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin and ASHP. Dr. Bakken is the Faculty Advisor for the ASHP Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SSHP) chapter at MCW and has served on several section advisory groups within the ASHP Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders.
Dr. Bakken’s primary teaching responsibilities include healthcare systems, medication safety, informatics, pharmacy practice development and management, and residency preparation. Her research interests include implementation-based research with an emphasis on technology, automation, process improvement, and medication safety, as well as pharmacy workforce research. Dr. Bakken is also a member of the Midwest Pharmacist Workforce Research Consortium, the group responsible for conducting the National Pharmacy Workforce Surveys in collaboration with the Pharmacy Workforce Center.
