Student Pharmacist

Skye Pyo is a pharmacy student at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo (UHH) Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy (DKICP). She is currently interested in clinical care (e.g. ambulatory or acute care pharmacy) and being in a position where she can give back to her local Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander community. This leads to one of her main focuses being on the Pacific Islander Mobile Screening Unit (PIMSC) executive board as the Community Outreach chair. In the next year, PIMSC’s goal is to establish a Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recognized Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP), host monthly screenings (e.g. blood glucose, blood pressure, etc.), and overall work to increase community outreach by student pharmacists at DKICP. She also serves as the Hawaiʻi Student Society of Health-Systems Pharmacy (HSSHP) and Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) Professional Development chair. Through this position, she is responsible for managing the local Clinical Skills Competition (CSC) and the local Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) competition, as well as holding informal and formal SOAP reviews for the students at DKICP.
