PharmD Candidate
St. John's University, College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences
Angela Basir is a sixth year PharmD candidate at St. John's University, College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, hoping to obtain a post-graduate residency in order to further develop as a clinical pharmacy specialist. As a Pharmacy Intern at Walgreens, and former Operation Diabetes Patient Care Project Chair within the American Pharmacists Association – Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP), she was able to develop leadership, decision-making, time management and communication skills. Recently, she completed an institutional review board (IRB) approved research study and will be presenting her abstract titled "Guideline adaptation of fidaxomicin as first-line therapy for Clostridioides difficile infection in institutions across the United States" at IDWeek in October 2022. The abstract will be published as an online supplement to Open Forum Infectious Diseases, the Infectious Diseases Society of America's (IDSA) open-access journal. Additionally, within her time at St. John's University, she published an article in the Rho Chi Post newsletter titled "Balancing Early and Appropriate Antibiotic Therapy and Antimicrobial Stewardship Efforts in Sepsis and Septic Shock". She hopes to evolve into a well-rounded residency candidate with a drive to treat patients at the highest quality-of-care while completing the remainder of her curriculum.
