The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy
Damaris Jacota is a second-year student at The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy. She was born and raised in Houston, Texas, where she completed her pharmacy prerequisites at the University of Houston. Damaris currently serves as the president-elect and secretary of UT-SSHP, a pharmacy ambassador for Texas Pharmacy Admissions, and a member of Rho Chi. Additionally, Damaris collaborates with other pharmacists and students by sitting on ASHP’s pharmacy student forum advisory group working towards advancing the pharmacy profession. In her free time, Damaris volunteers with multiple non-profit organizations like the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Project Sunshine. Damaris has been an inpatient pharmacy technician for nearly four years. Her time at HCA Houston Healthcare has provided numerous independent project management and professional growth opportunities, most notably a pharmacy technician workflow redesign and training program development materials. Damaris became enthralled with clinical pharmacy while working and shadowing the pharmacy clinicians at CHI St. Luke’s The Woodlands Hospital, birthing her passion for pursuing a clinical residency following graduation. As a future pharmacist, she hopes to advocate for the best personalized treatment options for all patients and become a source of innovation for her interprofessional care team.
