Markaleh Jackson, PharmD, is currently a PGY-1 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Resident at Ascension St. Vincent's Riverside in Jacksonville, FL. She graduated from FAMU College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Institute of Public Health with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in April 2022.
Dr. Jackson has been actively involved in her pharmaceutical studies starting 2014, when she began her pre-pharmacy journey at Florida State College in Jacksonville, FL. Aside from her studies, Dr. Jackson has gained experience from working as a pharmacy intern at Walgreens in Jacksonville, FL. Now, as a PGY-1 ambulatory care pharmacy resident, Dr. Jackson is able to use her knowledge and expertise to make informed clinical decisions regarding her patients medications. She has pursued obtaining her teaching certificate with hopes of precepting students in the future. Dr. Jackson is also interested in becoming board-certified in cardiology and plans to obtain her HIV certification. Her current research interests involves comparing the effects of potassium-binders on electrolytes and cardiovascular outcomes for patients with acute hyperkalemia. Following residency, she would like to work as an ambulatory care pharmacist managing patient's with chronic conditions such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes, HIV, etc.
