Richard "Austin" Menear is a second-year pharmacy student at the High Point University, Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy (HPU-FWSOP). He currently works as a pharmacy intern at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Through this internship, he has been involved in retrospective pharmacy research focused on DOCs versus standard-of-care therapy in a variety of disease states. Additionally, he has contributed to research focusing on HPU-FWSOP Longitudinal Patient Experience course through measuring learners' attitudes, outlook, and career choice in older generation populations. He has served as the ASHP-SSHP-HPU-FWSOP career development chair and coordinates, communicates, and leads events for SSHP members to further their education outside of the classroom. Also, Austin is the Ambassador Team Leader at HPU-FWSOP where he is responsible for encouraging volunteer ambassadors to help lead future student interviews, attend pharmacy related events, and coordinate with the Dean of Student Affairs to plan events. Austin is currently the president elect for Christian Pharmacist International at HPU-FWSOP. As of right now, he is open to many future pharmacy career areas, but has particular interests in critical care, emergency medicine, and cardiology.
