Assistant Department Head for Residency Programs and Rite Aid Professor, Director, PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency

Beth Phillips is Assistant Department Head for Residency Programs, Rite Aid Professor and PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency Program Director at the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy; and Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Kansas. She completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Specialized Residency in Ambulatory Care at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa. Prior to joining the University of Georgia in 2007, she was a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Ambulatory Care at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and a clinical faculty member at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. Over the years, she has had the opportunity to recruit and train many PGY1 and PGY2 residents. She has over 25 years of experience as a Residency Program Director, including starting both PGY1 and PGY2 programs. She maintains an active clinical practice in Ambulatory Care. She is heavily involved with didactic and experiential teaching of Pharm.D. students and Residents. She has published numerous papers and book chapters on primary care-related topics. She is the past Chair of the ASHP Commission on Credentialing and the 2010 recipient of the Pharmacy Residency Excellence Preceptor Award.
