Dr. Ellina Seckel (she/her) is the Associate Chief of Pharmacy, Ambulatory and Specialty Care at the Madison VA. She works collaboratively with pharmacy leadership and front-line staff to set strategic direction and advance clinical services for ambulatory clinical pharmacist practitioner practice while also supporting oversight of formulary management services.
In 2016, Dr. Seckel was recognized as a national VA Under Secretary of Health Gold Status Fellow for collaborative work showing the impact of using pharmacists to open access to primary care. In 2018-2019, Dr. Seckel spent 8 months serving as the Acting Chief of Primary Care at the Madison VA providing supervisory support to physicians and leading interdisciplinary teams. More recently, Dr. Seckel was nominated by her teammates and awarded the 2020 National VA Under Secretary for Health Excellence in Pharmacist Leadership Award.
In addition to VA work, Dr. Seckel is highly involved in the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin and is currently serving as the Chair for the state-wide Provider Status Core Team, Co-Chair for the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Team, and is currently PSW Board Chair.
Other professional involvement includes ASHP Foundation State PAI workshop presenter, ASHP Midyear speaker, and past Chair of the ASHP Ambulatory Care SAG on Clinical Practice Advancement.
Dr. Seckel obtained her doctorate of pharmacy from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and completed residency training at the Madison VA.
