J. Andrew Woods, Pharm.D., BCPS is a Professor of Pharmacy and chairs the Department of Translational Science and Inpatient Practice at Wingate University School of Pharmacy. Prior to his appointment as chair, he practiced in the inpatient setting as a Clinical Team Lead in Internal Medicine at Atrium Health's Carolinas Medical Center (a 900+ bed teaching hospital in Charlotte, NC) as well as in the outpatient setting at Cabarrus Family Medicine where he initiated and ran a pulmonary care clinic.
Andy received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Tennessee and completed residency at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, TN. His primary research interests are COPD and drug-induced diseases. Dr. Woods has consistently presented original research in COPD at national/international meetings including the American Thoracic Society (ATS) International Conference and the American College of Chest Physicians (Chest) Annual Congress. He has served on multiple interdisciplinary advisory panels for GOLD updates and respiratory medications. Dr. Woods is a founding member of the COPD Foundation's PRAXIS Advisory Board on which he continues to serve today.
