Joelle Nelson currently practices as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist III at University Health in San Antonio, TX where she also completed her residency training. She received her doctorate of pharmacy degree from Midwestern University College of Pharmacy Glendale in Arizona. She predominantly practices in adult abdominal but loves all organs. She is a recognized fellow by the American Society of Transplantation. She particularly has a passion for public policy and research endeavors in transplant infections disease as well as immnosuppression. In her career, she has published one book chapter and seven peer-reviewed manuscripts. Most notabley, she was first author on national consensus recommendations for use of maintenance immunosuppression in solid organ transplant which was endorsed by the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, American Society of Transplantation, and International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation to further advocate for off-label, off-compendia medication use in less-represented organs.
