Exploring Career Opportunities in Specialty Pharmacy

Oftentimes, a student’s first exposure to specialty pharmacy is during advanced practice pharmacy experience rotations, limiting ability to explore the variety of opportunities available in this area of practice. ASHP Specialty Pharmacy State of Practice in Hospitals and Health Systems-Future Directions Summit incorporates a variety of recommendations as it relates to workforce development, including specialty pharmacy basics being a foundational component of all students’ learning. It is stressed that inclusion of specialty pharmacy and representation at a national level will help broaden the audience of student exposure to specialty.
