Clinical Pharmacy Specialist – Cellular Therapy

Charlene Kabel, PharmD, BCOP is a clinical pharmacy specialist on the cellular therapy service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York City. She graduated from Duquesne University Mylan School of Pharmacy with honors. She completed a first-year residency at St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital in Savannah, Georgia and then completed a second-year oncology residency at MSKCC. She started her clinical pharmacy career on the adult leukemia service for approximately five years before transitioning to the inaugural cellular therapy service in April 2022 at MSKCC. Her clinical research primarily focuses on optimizing patient tolerability to immune effector cell therapy and evaluating efficacy in the sequencing of novel targeted immunotherapy.
Dr. Kabel is an active member of the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA), American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (ASTCT), and Advanced Practitioner Society for Hematology and Oncology (APSHO). She is the current Vice Chair on the Patient Outreach and Education Committee through HOPA and serves on the Education Committee through APSHO. She has worked with several organizations including the Leukemia Lymphoma Society (LLS), Cancer Cares, and HOPA to provide education to patients and caregivers suffering from hematologic malignancy. Dr. Kabel has presented nationally through Pharmacy Times Continuing Education (PTCE), HOPA, and several Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) Oncology Summits focusing on treatment in hematologic malignancies.
